CIC Hamilton: Young People Making Change: The US elections and Canadians abroad

McMaster University is pleased to partner with Brock University and Canadian International Council (CIC) in offering this event.

Panelist John Stackhouse is the author of four books including his most recent Planet Canada: How Expats are Shaping the Future, which contends that our country’s greatest untapped resource may be the three million Canadians who don’t live in the country. he’s is a Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and the CD Howe Institute. He is currently a Senior Vice President at RBC, and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of the Globe and Mail.

Aaron Myran is Executive Director of Future Majority, a national non-partisan organization. Their mission is to amplify the concerns of young Canadians and to advocate youth priorities in the political sphere.

Aaron and John’s talk will be facilitated by Rory Nisan and Yvonne Farah. Yvonne is the VP of Strategic Partnerships of the CIC Hamilton. An experienced executive with a varied history in retail, she parlayed her first loves of politics and international affairs into a Global MBA from Georgetown University, in Washington DC. Where she expanded her focus onto where business, politics and society intersect.

Rory is acting President of CIC Hamilton. As a foreign service officer, he represented Canada internationally from 2007-2018, negotiating human rights resolutions at the United Nations, supporting the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and working for the protection of civic space through the Community of Democracies. He has also specialized in measuring international instability and helped Canadians in the aftermath of natural and man-made disasters, including bringing Syrian refugees to Canada in 2015-2016.
