National Office: Governing AI in Canada: Digital Sovereignty, Democratic Resilience and the Next Generation

As governments around the world race to establish the rules that will shape the future of artificial intelligence, Canada faces a critical question: how can it advance innovation, competitiveness, and digital sovereignty while protecting privacy, safety, and democratic resilience?
Join the Canadian International Council and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Canada for a virtual roundtable discussion exploring Canada’s emerging approach to AI governance. Featuring brief opening remarks from leading experts followed by an interactive discussion with participants, this event will examine the policy choices shaping Canada’s AI future and the lessons that can be drawn from developments in Europe and beyond. Insights from the discussion will contribute to a national survey and synthesis report on AI governance to be published in January 2027.
