CIC National Office: Macdonald Lecture featuring Michael Adams

We are honoured to welcome Michael Adams, President and Founder of Environics Institute for Survey Research, to deliver a special lecture for the Canadian International Council on March 26, 2026 in Toronto.
In his lecture, Michael will pick up the story he told first in Fire and Ice and subsequently in Could it Happen Here? – a story about the evolution, and the divergence, of social values in Canada and the United States. In what ways do our understandings of Canadians and Americans need to be revised in the context of Donald Trump’s dramatic return to the White House and his aggressive posturing towards Canada? How have Canadians reacted to the threats to their country’s economic well- being and its sovereignty? At a time when both the independence and the unity of the country seem to be at stake, taking stock of the Canadian personality has never seemed more important.
