Events

The mission of the CIC is to promote an understanding of international affairs and Canada’s role in a changing world by providing Canadians with a non-partisan, nationwide forum for informed discussion, analysis and debate. Accordingly, the cornerstone of the CIC’s work is our events program. The CIC national office and our branches hold more than 150 events per year in cities across the country. In particular, our branch events give members an opportunity to directly engage with global issues that often intersect with local concerns. The CIC also supports events outside of Canada, often in partnership with other global think tanks, that can introduce Canadian perspectives to global audiences. CIC events take on many different forms, from academic lectures and panel discussions to town hall meetings and pub nights. Please consult our events calendar for a listing of CIC-organized and sponsored events.

If you have an idea for a CIC event, please contact us at info@thecic.org.

CIC Saskatoon: Global Connections – World University Service of Canada

February 5, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

CIC-Saskatoon is proud to host the upcoming Global Connections Networking Event, sponsored by our friends at the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation. Nachos are provided.

At each of these events, all people with international interest come to the back room of Amigos, where we hear from an international speaker at 5:30 pm.

The event starts at 5:00 pm, so use this as an opportunity to gather with new friends and old – intentionally scheduled to catch the summer vibes in the final few days before the start of school – have some eats and drinks and conversation, and learn more about people who are helping Canada attain the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations.

Join us for this event as Gareth Charpentier and more friends come together to talk about WUSC, the challenges and their incredible victories. If you’re up for some stories of hardship within long-established (too-long-established) refugee camps, as well as some good ones on the benefits to these students and our communities, this event is the place to be. We’re really looking forward to this event, and invite you to come be a part of it.
