Speaker’s Biography
Chris Gunning is the US Consul in Winnipeg. He is a career diplomat since 2002, and served overseas in Bangladesh, Japan, Gabon (also accredited to Sao Tomé and Principe) and, most recently, in Sri Lanka (also accredited to Maldives). In Colombo, Sri Lanka, Chris served as the Deputy Chief of Political Affairs, and the Maldives Unit Coordinator.

Chris was born in Illinois, but grew up in Dallas, Texas (which remains his home). He graduated from Mississippi State University with a BA in Political Science, Japanese and Criminology, and did graduate-level coursework in Political Science and History at the University of North Texas. He speaks French, Japanese, Bangla, and Texan with varying degrees of proficiency.
