CIC Winnipeg: Canada’s Participation in Maritime Interdiction Operations
October 6, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

We are pleased to welcome Captain Bill Quinn to speak to us about Canada’s participation in Maritime Interdiction Operations. He is freshly back from duty as the deputy commander of Canadian Task Force 150 (CTF-150) based in Bahrain. He is in Winnipeg for one day only on Thursday 6 October and we are delighted he has consented to speak to our group.
Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) is a maritime task force responsible for maritime security in the Red Sea, Northern Arabian Sea and Western Indian Ocean. It works within the construct of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF), which is a coalition of 31 nations who work together to enhance maritime security and cooperation in the Middle East.
Speaker’s Biography
From December 2015 to April 2016 a Royal Canadian Navy officer, Captain(N) William Quinn, served as the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of CTF 150 as part of a command rotation led by the Royal Australian Navy. Canada commanded CTF 150 the previous year, and will command it again from December 2016 to April 2017. Captain(N) Quinn’s presentation aims to explain the role of CTF 150 and the other CTFs (151 and 152) operating under CMF, some of the challenges faced in this complex region and some of the operational successes that were achieved.
