CIC Winnipeg: Canada Forces in the Sinai

Description:
The presentation will cover changes in the operating environment within the Sinai and how the situation has deteriorated since the Arab Spring. It will address the role of the Multi-National Force (MFO), how it has evolved over the recent past to adapt to the security situation, and it relationships with Egyptian and Israeli Armed Forces. It will illustrate Canada’s 30-year commitment to the MFO. Finally, Col Lipcsey will discuss his dual responsibilities as the Chief Liaison Officer for the MFO and the Canadian Task Force Commander.
Speaker’s biography
Colonel Martin Lipcsey enrolled in the Regular Force in 1989 and has commanded at the Section, Platoon, Company, Unit and deployed Task Force level. He has deployed on six operational deployments, the most recent a year-long assignment to the Sinai as part of the Multi-National Force and Observers (MFO). During his combat tour in Kandahar, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He holds a Bachelor degree in Military Arts and Science, a Master degree in Defence Studies, and a Master of Science in Leadership.
