CIC Winnipeg: Canada and the Middle East

Join us to hear from a Middle East expert about recent developments and Canada’s interests and activities in the region.
Ambassador Dennis Horak (Retired) began his career in the Foreign Service in 1987. His overseas assignments included Stockholm (1989-1990) and Warsaw (1990-1993), Iran and Saudi Arabia. In Ottawa, he held positions with the United Nations Division and the Division of Peacebuilding and Democratic Development. He was Head of Mission in Iran from 2009 to 2012, served in Ottawa as the Director of the Middle East Division from 2012 to 2015 and represented Canada as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen in from 2015 to 2018. Denis holds a BA in Political Science from York University and a Masters degree from the London School of Economics. He is well-qualified to speak about the Middle East from a Canadian perspective.
