Events

The mission of the CIC is to promote an understanding of international affairs and Canada’s role in a changing world by providing Canadians with a non-partisan, nationwide forum for informed discussion, analysis and debate. Accordingly, the cornerstone of the CIC’s work is our events program. The CIC national office and our branches hold more than 150 events per year in cities across the country. In particular, our branch events give members an opportunity to directly engage with global issues that often intersect with local concerns. The CIC also supports events outside of Canada, often in partnership with other global think tanks, that can introduce Canadian perspectives to global audiences. CIC events take on many different forms, from academic lectures and panel discussions to town hall meetings and pub nights. Please consult our events calendar for a listing of CIC-organized and sponsored events.

If you have an idea for a CIC event, please contact us at info@thecic.org.

September 15, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm PDT
We invite you to attend an insightful lecture and Q&A session featuring Ayman Odeh, a distinguished advocate for social justice and Arab-Jewish cooperation in the region. This event aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the multifaceted issues of equality, justice, and peace in Israel and Palestine. Open to students, activists, engaged citizens, and all individuals interested in constructive dialogue, the session aspires to promote meaningful engagement and informed discussion on these critical topics.
Our Speaker
Ayman Odeh (born 1975, Haifa) is a Palestinian citizen of Israel, lawyer, and Member of Knesset since 2015. He chairs the Hadash–Ta’al Party, a joint Arab-Jewish political alliance that promotes social justice, workers’ rights, full equality for Palestinian citizens of Israel, and a just peace between Israelis and Palestinians through a political solution.
Odeh previously led the Joint List, the largest Arab political alliance in Israel’s history, which became the third-largest bloc in the Knesset under his leadership. Renowned for his advocacy of Arab-Jewish partnership, equality, and democracy, Odeh is widely regarded as the leading Arab-Palestinian voice in Israeli politics and a consistent champion of peace, justice, and equality.
