CIC Victoria: The Universal Challenges to Food Systems: Canada’s Leadership Role
May 4, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

The diversity in food systems globally is astounding yet regardless of region, state or nation there are shared challenges that perpetuate food insecurity, waste, bias and conflict. Canada is not immune to those challenges. This discussion will involve on the ground experience and startling evidence of both our failure and opportunity in building a stronger Canadian food economy.
Our speaker…
Brenda Schoepp brings a global perspective on food system leadership and has visited a wide variety of farms and food processing floors around the world. In her decades of independent farming, Brenda developed regenerative practices and served in leadership roles provincially, nationally and internationally in agriculture and agri-food, finance, policy, research and animal health. Her book Three Times a Day: Leadership to Feed Our World will be published in 2021. Brenda was also recently appointed to the Canadian Food Policy Advisory Council which is tasked with co-creating the nation’s first food policy.
