CIC Victoria: Canada and China…Now, Never or Later?

November 6, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm PST

Description

Is this the moment for Canada and China to engage in trade negotiations to open their respective markets to greater flows of goods, services and investment? Does the new USMCA and Canada’s dependence on the US market mean that if we engage in talks with China we will be caught in the crossfire of a US-China trade war? Do China’s more aggressive military and diplomatic actions in the South China Sea and surrounding areas, along with concerns such as theft of intellectual property and internal security, and China’s internal human rights record, mean that we should turn elsewhere for trade diversification?

Speaker’s Biography

CIC members are invited to join School of Business Associate Faculty members, Jeff Kucharski and Hugh Stephens, and members of the Royal Roads Master of Global Management (MGM) program to discuss and debate these issues.
