CIC Victoria: Back to the Future – Can the Franco-German motor revive Europe after the elections of 2017?
October 24, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm EDT

Description
Arguably, the outcomes of the 2017 French and German elections have resulted in “seismic shocks” unsettling two countries considered to be the core of Europe. Both elections were preceded by yet another “seismic shock” in the form of Great Britain’s dramatic decision in 2016 to leave the European Union (EU). Against this backdrop, can French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel forge a new path that will ultimately revive the economic fortunes of the EU, especially when Foreign Policy Magazine recently noted that the results of the German election could very well result in “permanent crisis.” In his wide-ranging talk, Dr. Daniel Schulz will address these issues and question if a Franco-German partnership can revive Europe in spite of the odds.
