The Canadian International Council, Toronto Branch, is pleased to invite you to a special event featuring Her Excellency Kate Logan, High Commissioner of Australia to Canada.

The High Commissioner will deliver a keynote address on Canada–Australia partnership amid today’s shifting geopolitical and economic landscape, highlighting opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, critical minerals, technology, Indo-Pacific engagement, and international security. Her Excellency will also share her reflections on the outcomes of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent visit to Australia and the future direction of bilateral relations between our two countries.

The keynote address will be followed by a moderated conversation led by Mustafa Aryan, President of the Canadian International Council, Toronto Branch, and an audience Q&A.

About the Speaker:

Her Excellency Kate Logan commenced as Australia’s High Commissioner to Canada in December 2024. She is a senior career officer with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently First Assistant Secretary, Pacific Strategy Division.

She previously led the Consular and Crisis Management Division, was Chief of Protocol and Assistant Secretary of the Executive Branch, and served as Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs with responsibility for South and South-east Asia and counter-terrorism issues. Her roles overseas include Ambassador to Greece, Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Paris, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian High Commission in Colombo and Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Athens.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) majoring in international law and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. In 1994 she completed a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Australian National University. She speaks French and Greek.

About the Convenor:

Mustafa Aryan is President of the Canadian International Council, Toronto Branch. Mustafa is a Salzburg Global Fellow, a CAMCA Fellow of the Rumsfeld Foundation, and a 2024 Asia Foundation Fuller Fellow, among several other international fellowships. He has published extensively on global security and international affairs in The Diplomat, Open Canada, Diplomatic Courier, The Lowy Institute, and other leading publications. Prior to the fall of the Afghan government in August 2021, Mustafa served as Director of Geopolitics and International Affairs at Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation, the institution that led the country’s peace negotiations. He holds an M.A. in International Security from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
