CIC Saskatoon: Global Becomes Local: The Changing Climate and Environment of the Interior of western Canada

How has climate and the water cycle of western Canada changed over the past fifty years? How might it change over the next decades?

Join us as Dr. Chris DeBeer from the Global Institute for Water Security (https://www.usask.ca/water/ ) discusses research compiled by Changing Cold Regions Network on recent climatic, cryospheric, and hydrological changes of western Canada, and makes bold predictions on how this land might be changed in the decades to come.

Student CIC members – $20 per plate
All other CIC members – $25 per plate
Nonmembers – $30 per plate

If joining for dinner, payment by credit card (deadline: January 10, 4:00 p.m.). Dinner registrants will be expected to pay even if they cannot or do not attend. Persons with dinner reservations who cannot attend are encouraged to find someone else to take their place.

Speaker’s Biography
Dr. Chris DeBeer, Global Institute for Water Security
Since March 2013, Chris has worked as the project manager for the Changing Cold Regions Network at the Global Institute for Water Security. Chris is a key figure in the new Global Water Futures programme, which is poised to position Canada as a top leader worldwide in cold region hydrology and climate science. Chris’ research interests are on mountain snow and glacier hydrology, modelling, and understanding of their response to climate variation.
