CIC Saskatoon: Combatting Daesh: Updates from Joint Task Force Iraq

The Canadian Armed Forces play a significant role in combatting terrorism worldwide. One of the ways they do so is through the work of the in combatting and defeating Daesh.

Joint Task Force-Iraq is responsible for the national command and control of Operation IMPACT personnel and operations, and for the coordination of operations with the coalition headquarters.

Operation IMPACT is the Canadian Armed Forces’ (CAF) contribution to the Middle East Stabilization Force (MESF) – the multinational coalition to halt and degrade Daesh.

Under Operation IMPACT, the CAF conducts air operations, provides training and assistance to the Iraqi security forces, provides capacity building capabilities to regional forces, and supports the coalition with highly-skilled personnel.

CIC-Saskatoon is pleased to present to you Colonel James Irvine, who served as commander of JTF Iraq, who is willing to share his experiences and his insights – ever more timely given recent events.

8:00 pm Public presentation begins

Student CIC members – $20 per plate
All other CIC members – $25 per plate
Nonmembers – $30 per plate

If joining for dinner, payment by credit card (deadline: Nov 15, 4:00 p.m.). Dinner registrants will be expected to pay even if they cannot or do not attend. Persons with dinner reservations who cannot attend are encouraged to find someone else to take their place.
