CIC Saskatoon: Against Daesh, and for the World Order: An Update on Operation IMPACT
October 20, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm CSTFree
COVID-19, and its effects on our communities and our nation, takes up a great deal of the active thought areas of or minds. In the midst of this, it is easy to forget that Canadians are working away overseas in our name, working to maintain safety for us here at home, and for countless others overseas.
What’s happening in Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon? What kind of a threat does Daesh currently represent? How is Canada regarded by our allies around the world?
Join us by Zoom as CIC-Saskatoon host Major General Michel-Henri St-Louis, who last year served as commander of JTF-IMPACT, which began as the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) support to the Global Coalition to degrade and ultimately defeat Daesh in Iraq and Syria. The Major General is ideally positioned to provide us with an update on the region, the level of threat, and progress by Canada in terms of our actions on the ground and our progress in cooperating with the other members of the collation.
It is rare for us to receive an update from someone who is this much in the know. If you are at all curious about the region, the progress against terrorism, and this aspect of Canada’s role in the world, please consider attending. As well, the Major General is currently commander of the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre, and can answer some of your questions in that area as well.
Our speaker will present for approximately 30 minutes, after which we will open the floor to questions and conversation.
The CIC recognizes the great work that the Canadian Armed Forces performs as the face of Canada throughout the world.
