CIC National Capital (Ottawa): What’s Next? Directions for Canadian Foreign Policy After the 2019 Federal Election

November 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EST

Free

The new Canadian government faces multiple foreign policy challenges, from the rise of nationalist populism to a tense relationship with China and a re-assertive Russia, not to mention the more isolationist policies of the US.  What options are available to the new government? Will we see any new directions and new initiatives, or will it be business as usual?

Join our panel of experts and politicians for an insightful and lively debate moderated by Madelaine Drohan, The Economist’s correspondent in Canada and Senior Fellow in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa.

Panelists:

Susan Gregson, Senior Fellow in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa

Honourable John McKay, MP

Honourable Erin O’Toole, MP

Roland Paris, Professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa
