CIC National Capital (Ottawa): Venezuela: The State of the Crisis and Canada’s Options (Webinar)

November 16, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Free

Join the CIC National Capital Branch’s Latin America and Caribbean Study Group at its next event:

Description:

There is no end in sight for the decade-long crisis that is destroying Venezuela. Many thought that the scale of the challenges confronting the government and the many-sided pressures exerted by the international community on the Maduro government would open the door to a political transition that would at least stop the bleeding. Canada was heavily involved in that effort. The regime, however, has survived. In this event, we asked two specialists to give us a picture of the current situation in Venezuela and of Canada’s policy towards the country. An open discussion will follow.

Isaac Nihon-Serfaty: University of Ottawa
