Join CIC Director and author Dr. David Dyment in discussing the future of Canada-U.S. bilateral relations with Chargé d’Affaires Katherine Brucker from the United States Embassy. Participants can ask questions during the event and also have the opportunity to submit questions for the moderated discussion in advance of the event through the form below!

Bios:

Katherine Brucker is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Her assignments include both bilateral and multilateral work as well as extensive experience on the Secretary of State’s staff. Ms. Brucker began her career in 1994 as an Economic Officer in Port-au-Prince, Haiti working on economic development in a post-conflict society. Following a year of economic training in Washington (2000-2001), Ms. Brucker joined the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.  There she worked on Good Governance, Counter Terrorism as well as Balkan and Central Asian issues. Ms. Brucker has also worked in Bonn, Cameroon, Germany, Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire. In August 2020 she arrived in Ottawa, Canada to take up her duties as Deputy Chief of Mission.

Dr. David Dyment is the author of Doing the Continental: A New Canadian-American Relationship, currently in its second printing, selected by the Toronto Library Foundation as a significant recent Canadian book, and a Quill & Quire bestseller. At Carleton University he’s a senior research associate and has taught Canadian foreign policy most recently at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. A former director of the Parliamentary Internship Programme, he has served as a deputy director at Global Affairs Canada, and on the immediate staff of the governor general of Canada.
