CIC National Capital (Ottawa): Grand Challenges Canada in Africa

The CIC National Capital Branch’s Africa Study Group is pleased to announce its next event featuring David Brook, Chief Strategy Officer of Grand Challenges Canada, on the work of Grand Challenges Canada in Africa.
Grand Challenges Canada is a not-for-profit organization, funded by the Government of Canada and other donors, that is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable. It funds innovators in low-and middle-income countries and Canada. The bold ideas Grand Challenges Canada supports the integration of science and technology, social and business innovation. Heath sector investments have been a particular focus of the ideas supported by the organization.
Speaker’s Biography
David Brook played a significant role in launching, Grand Challenges Canada and building its business and strategic plans, as well as a leading role in developing and implementing its performance reporting and impact measurement systems. Before working with Grand Challenges Canada, David worked as a consultant specializing in innovation, health and environmental policy, commercialization, and citizen engagement. David is also a lead investor and strategic advisor to several small-and medium-sized enterprises in Ottawa. He has an Honours Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (International Development) and a Masters Degree in Political Economy from Carleton University and a Graduate Certificate in Dialogue, Deliberation and Public Engagement from Fielding Graduate University.
