CIC Halifax: Parliament, Politics and Canada’s Global Posture

What role does Parliament play in foreign policy making in Canada? What role can it play? Or, should it play? How should we think about the role of parliament, parties and partisanship in Canadian foreign policy making?

Speaker’s Biography:

Adam Chapnick (PhD) is deputy director of education at the Canadian Forces College and professor of defence studies at the Royal Military College of Canada. He holds a BA (Honours) from Trent University, an MA in International Affairs from Carleton University and a PhD in History from the University of Toronto. He currently teaches courses in Canadian government and strategic decision-making, critical thinking and Canadian international policy.
