CIC Edmonton: The Trump-Kim Summit: What’s Next for U.S./North Korean Relations?

The June 12 Singapore Summit marks the first time a serving U.S. President and the leader of North Korea will meet. This meeting comes after a year of escalating rhetoric between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un amid North Korea’s unrelenting nuclear ambitions. What does this meeting signify and what comes next? At this Politics at the Pub event, Dr. Brian Gold from the University of Alberta will discuss the turbulent and tension filled history between these two countries and what this summit means for the future of international relations in the region.

Speaker’s Biography

Dr. Brian Gold teaches at the University of Alberta and specializes in East Asian/Korean matters.
