CIC Edmonton: Brexit Under Boris Johnson
August 29, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm MDT
Free
The United Kingdom has been struggling to come to terms with the country’s withdrawal from the European Union since voting to leave in June 2016.
After failing to facilitate a deal for Great Britain’s exit from the EU, Prime Minister Theresa May resigned. She was replaced by former London Mayor, Foreign Secretary, and leading voice for the ‘leave’ campaign, Boris Johnson.
Johnson came into office last month vowing to leave the European Union on Oct. 31, with or without a withdrawal agreement. What can we expect with Brexit under Boris Johnson? How will it affect relations with the European Union and Canada? Come join CIC-Edmonton for another addition to thePolitics and the Pub Series to find out!
Join CIC-Edmonton on August 29th as University of Alberta professor Dr. Lori Thorlakson examines the historical events that led to Brexit and what Brexit under Boris Johnson means for the Europe, Canada, and the future of the European Union.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
