Please join us Wednesday evening (April 26, 2017, 6-9 pm) at The Common (basement), as Mr. Guillermo Rishchynski, Executive Director for Canada the Inter-American Development Bank, takes us on a journey through his career path and the various roles and countries along the way. Afterward, there will be questions and answers, followed by mixing and mingling over appetizers to allow the opportunity to talk to Mr. Rishchynski as well as your fellow Canadian International Council (CIC) members, and members of the Edmonton international affairs community generally.

Speaker’s Biography
Guillermo E. Rishchynski was appointed Executive Director for Canada at the InterAmerican Development Bank on January 1, 2016.

Guillermo E. Rishchynski (BA, McGill University, 1975) was Regional Marketing Manager, Latin America, for Interimco International before joining the Department of External Affairs and International Trade in 1983 as an Assistant Trade Commissioner. He has served abroad in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Amman, Melbourne, Jakarta, Chicago and, from 1999 to 2002, as Ambassador to Colombia, in Bogotá.

In Ottawa, he has served the department as Deputy Director, Latin America and Caribbean Trade Division, and Director, Team Canada Task Force and Inspector General. He joined the Canadian International Development Agency in 2003, serving as VicePresident of the Americas Branch until his appointment as Ambassador to Brazil in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed Ambassador to Mexico and in 2011 he was appointed as Canada’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations.

He is married to Jeannette Portillo Tinoco, and they have two children.
