CIC Victoria: Claws of the Panda – Redux
January 15, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm PST
$15 – $45
With well over 10,000 copies of his book ‘Claws of the Panda’ flying of the shelves in 2019, Jonathan now has a national bestseller to his name and a new book on the way. Indeed, the past 12 months has been a whirlwind of speaking engagements and book tours across Canada, where he has spoken about efforts by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to infiltrate and influence Canadian politics, academia, and media, and to exert control over Canadians of Chinese heritage. Now, in a much-anticipated return engagement, Jonathan will take us behind the scenes of what’s really going on in Canada-China relations, bringing in the latest developments over the past year, including the on-going saga of Meng Wanzhoug, the fate of Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig who were detained by Chinese officials on 18 December 2018, the current political situation in Hong Kong and new details concerning China’s United Front and its continuing activities to embed agents of influence in Canadian business, politics, media and academia.
