Book reviews – Destined for War: Can America and China Escape Thucydides’ Trap and Everything Under the Heavens: How the Past Shapes China’s Push for Global Power
To complement the recent China-focused articles on the website we have two excellent book reviews by CIC member, Colonel (Retired) David A. Burke. David is a graduate of the Pakistan Army Command and Staff College (Quetta), has a BSc (Honours) in War Studies from the University of Baluchistan and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Alberta. He is also an International Fellow of the Chinese PLA National Defence University and served as the Canadian Defence Attaché to China and Mongolia from 2000-2004. His first review is of Graham T. Allison’s book (2017), Destined for War: Can America and China Escape Thucydides’ Trap? The second focuses on Howard W. French’s book (2017) Everything Under the Heavens: How the Past Shapes China’s Push for Global Power.
